Community Grants – Community Impact

Welcome to the Community Trust Foundation Blog

For Good, Forever

Sandi Rowland, Foundation Director

Grants, Grants and More Grants.  Grant making is a big part of what CTF does. Grantmaking is a particularly rewarding part of our work here at CTF. Once or twice a year local non profit organizations, schools or government agencies submit grant applications. Our grants committee reviews them and makes recommendations for funding. The grants committee is made up of both CTF Board members and community members. Funding is sought from our existing donor funds and everything is approved by both the donors and our Board of Directors. We give grants in four basic funding areas: Education and Youth Development, Health and Wellness, Vibrant Communities & Thriving Environments, and Arts and Historic Preservation.

Some of our recent grantees include: The Allegany Arts Council for “Arts in the Schools Week,” Frostburg State University’s Center for Creative Writing to support the One Act Play Series, The iLego team in Garrett County for travel to a national competition in Arkansas, the Cumberland YMCA for a pre-diabetes lifestyle intervention program, the Mission of Mercy dental clinic, and The Evergreen Heritage  environmental education center among others.

Thousands of our neighbors and friends and maybe even you have benefitted from grants awarded through CTF over the last several years. We are proud to be part of building a stronger, more vibrant community. Please contact me if you have questions, comments, or ideas via email at srowland@ctfinc.org, or by phone at 301-876-9172.
