Fort Hill Band Parent Association Establishes Fund with Community Trust Foundation

The Fort Hill Band Parent Association has taken an important step toward securing the future of its talented musicians, the Sentinelettes, and the Color Guard by partnering with the Community Trust Foundation (CTF) to establish a dedicated fund. This newly created fund will provide long-term financial support for the Fort Hill High School Band, ensuring its continued excellence and growth.

For years, the Fort Hill Band Parent Association has worked tirelessly to raise money to support the band’s various activities, including purchasing uniforms, instruments, and show props, as well as funding travel expenses for performances. With the creation of this fund, the association now has an avenue for sustainable financial assistance, offering stability and security for future generations of students.

The association is particularly excited about the potential of the fund to help offset the cost of uniforms and provide scholarships for students, which are their current top priorities. “Anything that helps support the band, from instruments to travel expenses, could be included in the fund,” said Matthew Crawford, the current Treasurer. Matthew has been involved with the organization for approximately four years and understands the impact this fund could have on the program.

Kristie Thomas, Vice-President of the association, has been active for five years, continuing a family tradition that began when her parents supported the group while she was in school. She and Matthew both expressed their appreciation for the Community Trust Foundation’s guidance throughout the process. “The Fort Hill Scholarship Fund had worked with the Community Trust Foundation, and that’s how we heard about the organization,” shared Kristie.

Matthew agreed, emphasizing the ease of setting up the fund. “Leah Shaffer was very helpful and always responded to us in a timely manner. It was a very smooth process,” he added.

Leah Shaffer, Executive Director of CTF, is equally enthusiastic about this partnership. “We are pleased to work with the Fort Hill Band Parent Association,” she stated. “CTF supports initiatives that foster educational growth, youth leadership, and a community alive with the arts. This fund undoubtedly aligns with all of these areas.”

The Fort Hill Band Parent Association Fund encourages parents, alumni, and friends to contribute to this vital initiative. Every donation goes directly to supporting the band members, Sentinelettes, and Color Guard ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive.
