Karen is an active Realtor specializing in buyer representation for Garrett County, MD properties as a broker and associate broker with TaylorMade Real Estate in McHenry, MD. 

She is also president and owner of Mountaineer Log & Siding Co., Inc.—supplying log home packages in the mid-Atlantic area and registered builder in Maryland 

Karen volunteers with many organizations in Garrett County, including as Co-Chair of the DCL100 Committee (the lake is 100 years old in 2025 and events are planned for every month of 2025), Garrett Regional Medical Center – Foundation board member; Garrett College Board of Trustees—Vice Chair; Community Trust Foundation—Board member; Garrett Community Concert Band & Garrett Jazz Band (tenor sax). 

A mother of two, stepmother of four, grandmother to 15, and great-grandmother of two, Karen is a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. 

Karen believes that each of us is responsible to help make the world a better place, both now and into the future. Being on the CTF Board has enabled her to see a wider range of opportunities, especially with youth activities. It has been one of her life’s goals to participate and help guide the growth and development of the region so that her great-grandchildren and generations beyond will be able to enjoy the beauty of nature, a rural lifestyle, and local economic opportunities.
