WV State Tax Credit Program

Find out how giving back to Meals on Wheels Endowed Fund with a $1,000 contribution may only cost you $500.

What is the “Neighborhood Investment Program”?

The Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) was established by the West Virginia Legislature in 1996 to increase charitable giving to local nonprofit organizations, thus increasing the capacity of such organizations to serve low-income residents in highly distressed neighborhoods.

The program allows 501(c)3 designated charitable organizations to apply for tax credit vouchers. These organizations then distribute the vouchers to businesses and individuals who contribute to the organizations. By donating to approved NIP organizations, contributors can support their communities and earn tax credits to reduce certain West Virginia taxes.

Businesses and individuals who contribute to NIP organizations are eligible to receive up to 50 percent of the contributed amount in the form of state tax credits. Donors may use the credits to reduce liability for the following West Virginia taxes:
Corporate Net Income Tax
Personal Income Tax

How it Works

The West Virginia tax credit applies to gifts of $500 or more made to the Meals on Wheels Endowed Fund held at the Community Trust Foundation.

The Meals on Wheels program run by the Aging and Family Services of Mineral County, delivers more than 30,000 hot meals to low-income seniors and is critical to providing proper nutrition and safety checks to some of the most vulnerable at this time.

To find out how you or your business can participate, contact Mr. Louie Kitzmiller, Director of Finance and Human Resources for Aging & Family Services of Mineral County at lkitzmiller@wvaging.com, (304) 788-5467 ext. 110.
