The Fort Hill Scholarship Funds supports various scholarships for Fort Hill High School Seniors pursuing higher education.  To apply for a scholarship please contact the Fort Hill High School Guidance Counselors. You can donate to the Fort Hill Scholarship Fund of your choice using the donate button.

General Endowed Scholarship Fund 

The General Endowed Scholarship Fund supports a variety of Fort Hill Scholarships.



Dennis F. Abe Sr. Estate Endowed Scholarship 

The purpose of the Dennis F. Abe Sr. Estate Endowed Scholarship Fund is to recognize achievements in mathematics, English, athletics and best all-around students by providing scholarships to Fort Hill High School seniors with a 90% or better attendance, a GPA of 3.0+, and who are planning to enroll in a 2-4-year college program.



William and Shirley Birmingham Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships for Fort Hill High School students pursuing an undergraduate degree in education, including early childhood, elementary, secondary, and special education. Criteria include acceptance to a 2 or 4-year college, 3.0+ GPA, and participation in school activities.  Activities may include but are not limited to, newspaper, yearbook, music, theater, student government, or sports.



Larry Boggs Family Endowed Scholarship (New)

The purpose of the Larry Boggs Family Endowed Scholarship Fund shall be to provide scholarships to deserving students graduating from Fort Hill High School with at least a B average and pursuing higher education in a STEM field.

One scholarship each year shall be awarded to a student recommended by the Fort Hill High School Selection Committee and approved by CTF Board to pursue an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.



James G. Brown Endowed Scholarship 

The purpose of the James G. Brown Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Fort Hill High School male or female seniors who are athletic team managers for a minimum of two years, have a G.P.A. of 2.5+ and demonstrate an outstanding school spirit.



Alyssia M. Cage Memorial Scholarship

The Alyssia M. Cage Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a female senior student who excels in science, particularly biology, and will attend either Frostburg State University or Allegany College of Maryland.


Jack Cheney Memorial Baseball Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Jack Cheney Memorial Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to deserving baseball players graduating from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland. Scholarship recipients must be members of the baseball team for a minimum of two years with a 90% or better attendance record,

Jim & Carol Combs Family Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Jim & Carol Combs Family Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to deserving Fort Hill High School students.



Julianne K. Ferris, Ph.D. Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Julianne K. Ferris, Ph.D. Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to deserving Fort Hill High School seniors planning to attend Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) for a degree in visual or performing arts. Visual arts includes, but is not limited to painting, sculpture, drawing, and graphic design. Performing arts includes, but is not limited to, dance, music, and theatre. One scholarship may be awarded each year for $1,000.



James O. Friend Memorial Scholarship



Oscar R. & Monna J. Goldsborough Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Oscar R. & Monna J. Goldsborough Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Fort Hill High School seniors, with a GPA of 3.0+, and who plan to enroll in a 4-year college program.



Bob Hidey Memorial Scholarship



Charles E. Lattimer F-Club Endowed Scholarship 

The purpose of the F Club Charles H. Lattimer Endowed Scholarship Fund is to award 2 scholarships to the best male and the best female student athlete who is planning to enroll in a 2-4-year college or a technical/trade school. Students must have a GPA of 2.5+, have participated in at least 2 sports for 2 years or more, exhibit qualities of leadership, responsibility, and community service, and demonstrate financial need.



Paul & Helen Long Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of this fund is to provide a scholarship to one Fort Hill High School graduating student each year pursuing Mathematics or a related field at a 2 or 4-year college or university.  Students must have a GPA of 3.0+, exhibit qualities of leadership, responsibility, and community service, and demonstrate financial need.


Shari Ann Maszkiewicz Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Shari Ann Combs Maszkiewicz Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Fort Hill High School female seniors, with a 90% or better attendance record, a GPA of 3.0+, and who plan to enroll in a 2-4-year college program majoring in mathematics or a related discipline, i.e. accounting, statistics, etc.



Russell L. Poling Jr. Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Russell L. Poling Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Fort Hill High School male or female seniors who plan to attend a skill/trade training program and enroll in a 2-4-year college program. Students must have a GPA of 2.75+ and exhibit qualities of leadership, responsibility, and community service.



Carl Ritchie Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Carl Ritchie Endowed Scholarship Fund is to award one $1,000 scholarship to a student pursuing a degree in the field of business.



Henry, Dorothy & David Roberson Endowed Scholarship 

The purpose of the Henry, Dorothy & David Roberson Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarship to students graduating from Fort Hill High School that have earned a 3.0+ GPA.



Sansom Memorial Arts Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Sansom Memorial Arts Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Fort Hill High School seniors who have participated in the arts such as Choir, Glee Club, Band, Acting or designing sets and costumes, or designing layouts for the yearbook. Students should be planning to major in one of the Arts (including Culinary Arts) or teaching of the Arts, and has applied or been accepted to a Maryland college, university or junior college. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.2+ and demonstrate financial need.



Jamie Snider, Class of 2007 Scholarship

The purpose of this Jamie Snider, Class of 2007 Scholarship Fund shall be to provide scholarships to students graduating from Fort Hill High School pursuing a certification, diploma, or undergraduate degree from an accredited program, college, or university in agriculture, natural resources, or wildlife.  Students must have a 3.0+ GPA and been a participant in FFA, SkillsUSA, the Envirothon, or agricultural studies.



Steven Stafford Jr. Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Steven Stafford Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Fort Hill High School seniors who are members of the track and field team, with a GPA of 3.5+, who have been accepted into admission to a 2 or 4-year college program and who are also a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.



Welcome Home Award Endowed Scholarship

The Fort Hill Welcome Home Award Endowed Scholarship Fund is presented to a male and female senior nominated by the faculty based on loyalty, scholarship, leadership, character and service.  The senior class members vote for the students who possess these qualities.



Fort Hill Class of 1956 Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Fort Hill High School Class of 1956 Endowed Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to Fort Hill High School seniors in honor of those who have made significant contributions to Fort Hill High School. The recipient must have achieved a high-grade point average, attended school regularly, and exhibited qualities of leadership, responsibility, and community service.
