Frostburg United Methodist Church operates Camp Hope Inc., a non-profit organization of volunteers from all over Maryland who gather every summer in Frostburg to help with home repairs and improvements for families and individuals in need. The volunteers have completed painting, building porches, wheelchair ramps, roofing, flooring, and other general household repairs to assist senior citizens, disabled individuals, and low to moderate income homeowners. CTF’s Allegany County Fund granted $1,100 for this project.
A team of 3 adults and 11 youth from Grace Community Church installed a brand new set of 30 foot treated lumber steps, risers, treads and hand rails and poured a concrete slab at the bottom.
A team of 2 adults and 6 youth from Catonsville UMC removed a rickety set of steps and replaced them with a new treated lumber handicap ramp from the porch to the parking space. They also sealed the trailer roof, replaced rotten wood floors and underlayment in the bedroom and bathroom, and installed a new support beam under the mobile home.
